Today, APPLiA co-signed a joint statement together with other industry associations in support of the EU Emissions Trading System for buildings and road transport (EU ETS 2).
By putting a carbon price on fossil fuels used in households, the EU ETS 2 can accelerate the uptake of clean heating solutions and energy-efficient products, boosting energy security, supporting EU competitiveness, and helping meet 2030 climate targets.
For the home appliance sector, this means creating stronger demand for the technologies that can make Europe’s homes more efficient. But to make it work for everyone, existing safeguards must be reinforced and the Social Climate Fund swiftly implemented to protect the most vulnerable.
