Release of the 16.0 version of Product Information Standard

On 31st January 2017, the new version of the CECED standard for product information (the PI Standard) became available. It is downloadable from the Product Information webpage.

This 16.0 version provides a complete update of all product information for large and certain small home appliances (notably vacuum cleaners) contained in the Standard, as well as a new product group (venting hobs), revised typology for hoods, and requirements set by F-gas Regulation for dryers. In addition to energy label requirements for relevant products, new fields covering eco-design requirements were introduced for hobs. The PI Standard is available in 14 languages.

The context

The PI Standard is the de facto European standard for product information on home appliances. This product information helps our manufacturers communicate the specifics of their products to retailers and consumers. It allows for a common European “language” for product characteristics, while maintaining a high level of marketing differentiation to highlight unique product features. The product information is exchanged via a standardised electronic format, containing basic product information, energy label information, special features and characteristics, as well as media and communication aspects. The PI Standard is used to effectively provide consistent, accurate, and up-to-date information to multiple output media used in trade, such as websites, print catalogues, ERP systems, and electronic data feeds.
